Our Beliefs

The following statements along with the corresponding scriptures are a summary of what we believe here at Abundant Life Worship Center.

We believe:

  • Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. (Isaiah 7:14 and Luke 1:26-35)
  • Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. (Mark 15:22-37, 42-46, Mark 16:1-7, Luke 23:33-46, 50-53, and Luke 24:1-9)
  • He is ascended to heaven, and is today seated at the right hand of the Father ever making intercession for the saints of God. (Acts 1:9, Romans 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25)
  • Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin and death came into the world. Jesus shed his blood and gave his life to redeem and restore man back to God. Salvation is the gift from God to man, made available by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 5:12-15 and Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Our God is one, but manifested in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (I John5:7, Acts 2:32-33)
  • Baptism in water by immersion, is a direct command of our Lord, and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ, in his death, burial and resurrection. Water baptism is an outward expression of an inward change in you as a believer. (Matthew 28:19, Mark 1:9-10, Acts 8:36-38)
  • Baptism in the Holy Ghost is a gift for all believers. This gift is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Holy Ghost gives the utterance. (Mark 16:17, Acts 2:3-6)
  • We believe in the partaking of the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saint’s feet. (John 13:4-10, I Corinthians 11:23-26)
  • Just as salvation is available for everyone, healing is also provided for everyone. The Lord wants everyone to be healthy, whole, and complete; spiritually, mentally, and physically. (Isaiah 53:5 and I Peter 2:24)
  • God has established in Scripture the sanctity and companionship of a marriage. God intends the marriage bond between a man and a woman to last a lifetime. Jesus Christ should be the cornerstone of a marriage, and the foundation upon which that relationship is built. God’s word teaches that a man shall leave father and mother and cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh. (Genesis 2:22-24 and Matthew 19:4-6)
  • The Lord will return to gather the dead in Christ as well as those that are alive and remain. In a moment all of the children of God will be changed from corruption to in-corruption, from mortality to immortality. At that moment all of the redeemed shall be with Christ forever. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18 and I Corinthians 14:51-58)
